And also from the lesson we learn from the United States, we urged that the government of People’s republic of China should never ever allow the bearing of arms, since we have so large population and the freedom to owe arm will cause destructive consequence.
Also, according to Weisburd, individual motivation plays an important role in the decision to commit a crime . So from the other point of view, crime may be caused by a particular individual, thus in order to protect many other university students’ lives, those university students who commit crimes should be treated equally with the other citizen. There seemed little justification for the view that unversity students are elites of the society and should be given special treatment.
With the development in scale of universities, the number of students has increased sharply, especially as more private universities appear. The ability of the administration on the other hand cannot catch up with the pace of development and the weakness becomes more and more obvious and on the other hand, quite a number if universities don’t supply the corresponding legal education and the university students can’t get a complete and overall education.
From the development of economy, with the set up of the market economy, the idea of earning money and being individualized becomes more and more popular and more and more people have to consider the economic problem especially those students from the countryside. The tuition fees rise every year, while the grant, loan and scholarship system is not quite complete.So system can be set up in helping building a complete grant system like they have in the United and the other western countries.
From the social structure, the evaluation of value is at a turning point from the new period to old period. Now for quite a long period, the society will be in an intermediate stage of flux before a comparatively complete and standard rule comes into being. Now various regulations and control of morals becomes weaker and weaker. The sub-culture of the university is also greatly influenced by the main culture in the society, which will cause them to pursue power and money.
And we think what we can do right now is to strengthen the legal education and psychological education.
The ethnics experts of Chinese Central, Prof Wei Yanling, put forward three suggestions to prevent the crimes in University:
a. Strengthen the legal education
Guide the university student to have appropriate goals in life which are not entirely self-centred. University students haven’t formed their final shape and can be greatly influenced by the environment; sometimes they make mistakes just because of a bad idea and an ideal would be to educate them to focus on study and to be self- esteemed and self-loved and love then others. In fact, all the students are equal and any ignorance will cause danger.
Currently, the legal education offered to university students is quite weak and some university students don’t even know they are committing crimes when they committed theft. Thus the universities and colleges should use the campus newspaper and news board to spread the legal education and it will be more effective the prevention and punishment together.
b.Enlarge the psychological help
In western countries , when students met problem, the have welfare office, personal turtors or hotline twenty four hour a day. But in our country, as the lack of academic people and other resource, we can set up some psychological center to help relieve the the problem
We are happy to see that the government has designated May 25 as a day dedicated to the mental health of college students in China, by which they hope to call attention to students’ psychological well-being. A website where psychiatric information and counseling are available opened on the first “Mental Health” day this year.
